With 13 years of being an adored and powerful presence in the Boston Blues scene, at age 37, Tim Gearan has released his long-awaited solo disc, Back Home.
Tim spent his earlier childhood years travelling back and forth from New York City to Cape Cod, MA. Since then he has lived and played music in New Orleans, Los Angeles, Martha's Vineyard and has been in Boston since the 1980's.
During his 13-year stint as lead guitarist for the Toni Lynn Washington Band, Tim toured extensively at clubs and festivals throughout Europe and the U.S. When not recording or touring with Toni, Tim has played and recorded with the likes of John Hammond, Susan Tedeschi, Guy Davis, Johnnie Johnson and others.
His transition from having created a groundswell of interest amongst the blues scene as one of Boston's favorite blues musicians, to asserting himself into the singer-songwriter community has been welcomed and cheered-on by colleagues and fans alike.
Tim's wide range of writing styles is a reflection of the music he loves to listen to, with influences ranging from Dylan, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt to Willie Nelson, Randy Newman, Rickie Lee Jones and Ray Charles.
The release of Back Home has allowed Tim to reveal his enormous creative range and delightfully understated songwriting, exposing the emergence of a talent to watch.
Call it American music, rich in the traditions that have surrounded this talented songwriter. With a gifted cast of musicians, Tim has crafted a refreshing but familiar acoustic down-home feel that has been and will continue to connect with audiences for years.
